IP traffic in India grow four times from 2014-2019, says Cisco





Traffic Internet Protocol (IP) in India will quadruple to a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 33 percent in 2019 due to increased demand mobile access and video services, technology firm Cisco said . It took 32 years - 1984 to 2016 - to generate a zettabyte IP traffic annually.

According to Visual Networking Index this year, we will generate two zettabytes of IP traffic per year, only three years later, in 2019, "said Sanjay Kaul, managing director of global business services, Cisco India and SAARC, in the tenth annual Red Cisco Visual Index Forecast for India.

"In India, IP traffic will grow four times from 2014-2019, a compound annual growth of 33 percent and reach four exabytes per month in 2019, compared to 967 petabytes per month in 2014," he added.

Excessive consumption of mobile data network devices clouds, faster speeds and increased broadband video consumption are key factors for growth, according to the forecast, the addition of networked devices in India will grow from 1 one million devices in 2014 to 1.6 billion in 2019, while the average fixed broadband speed will increase from 4 Mbps in 2014-12 Mbps in 2019.

Mobile data traffic is another area that is expected to see phenomenal growth in India - fold growth rate 13 at a CAGR of 67 percent, says Cisco.

Mobile traffic was nine percent of total IP traffic in 2014 and reach 28 percent of total IP traffic in 2019, according to the forecast.
