Facebook, WhatsApp popular applications in India: report




Social networking giant Facebook and mobile messaging service WhatsApp have retained their positions as the 'most popular applications "from the Indians this year, according to a new report.

In addition, UC Browser TrueCaller and also among the top five most popular mobile applications among the Indians, according to the study by WhichApp, a mobile application that helps users discover new applications that their friends use.

WhichApp, which said more than 20,000 applications have been discovered and downloaded through its platform, also called MX Player, Flipkart, Candy Crush, Naukri.com as AppLock and other popular applications among the Indians.

The popularity is decided based on the number of users who have WhichApp and actively using applications on their mobile phones. Only those applications have been considered to have been used at least once a month.

"Our future plans are to locate the vernacular of non-English speaking audience and deployment in other countries as the application is only available in India at this time," said WhichApp Co-Founder and CEO Kapil Chawla.

"The goal is to have 10 million users in December 2016," he added. It currently has 100,000 users in the country.
