BSNL can maintain and operate the network of MTNL in revenue sharing regime





BSNL State may maintain and operate the network of MTNL on a revenue sharing basis and a decision can be taken about 2-3 months.

"We have received a proposal for MTNL CMD to operate and maintain your network. It will be done on the basis of revenue sharing and a decision in this sense can take 2-3 months," BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava told PTI.

A committee has been formed to investigate the matter and finalize details on revenue sharing and implementation, he added.

BSNL operates on pan-India except Delhi and Mumbai, where the other state-owned MTNL provides telecom services.

Aaj Tak at an event in New Delhi, Shrivastava said BSNL has been making efforts to become profitable and reported an operating profit of Rs. Rs 672 million for FY15.

He said revenue from services company increased while there was a decrease in administrative costs. He said BSNL has taken several initiatives focused on customers, such as free night calls, free roaming and provide a minimum broadband speed of 2 Mbps.
