Digital India: Solar Wi-fi, free 100Gbps OFC and more to be released by C-DOT July 6

C-DOT, Institute research and development department of telecommunications, will next week launch four broadband products developed to rapidly advance the India Digital initiative, said an official statement.

The products, which include Wi-Fi system long distance, WiFi system is solar powered, 100 Gbps fiber optic cable link (OFC) network and next generation C-DOT (NGN) on MTNL network It will be released by Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on July 6 as part of the week Digital India.

The Wi-Fi long distance system is able to extend access and IP connectivity to remote areas of India in a cost and energy efficient, and is able to provide 100 Mbps broadband, said C-DOT .

The WiFi system operates solar-powered license exempt bands at 2.4 and 5.8GHz, and, according to C-DOT, it is specifically designed for outdoor environments and difficult terrain where there is no guarantee continuous power.

The system is designed to operate with input voltages variables and in harsh conditions. It can also be used to link back to WiFi hot spots, cellular base stations and base station controllers, ATMs, and database servers, he said.

While the link 100 Gbps OFC accommodate the growing demand for higher bandwidth, high speed and energy efficiency, cost-effective network next generation of C-DOT (NGN) solution meets the need of changing the status of telecommunications and allows telecommunications companies to make a smooth transition from technology division multiplexing (TDM) time legacy to advanced VoIP technology Telecom.

A successful test live network developed by 1000 has been fixed line connections legacy public switched telephone network (PSTN) technologies to IMS-compatible network technology next generation of C-DOT, said C-DOT.

He said the successful test will enable MTNL think the launch of several services (voice, video and data) through various IP-based network access. In addition, it is now possible to migrate its 3.5 million fixed telephony subscribers of MTNL to existing IP-based network, he added.
