47 percent of Indians spend their time on WhatsApp, Skype: report Ericsson





Smartphone users in India spend 47 percent of their time on communication applications such as WhatsApp, WeChat, Hiking and Skype that are key to using mobile broadband, according to the report engine.

"Communication remains the dominant activity in smartphones. Communication applications are" always on "and are a key use of mobile broadband engine," said the report by Swedish telecommunications equipment maker Ericsson.

"According to our report, Indians spend 47 percent of usage time communications applications such as voice, instant messaging, Voice over IP (eg Skype), e-mails and social networks on smartphones," he said Ericsson.

The report said communication applications have a greater reliance on the use of mobile broadband, because of their "always on" state.

The report analyzes the behavior of applications using measurements using the device across several markets, including India, with a particular focus on how messaging and social media applications affect the way people communicate.

The research sample represents users of Android smartphones in India, Japan, South Korea, the UK and the USA .. In India, 7,500 users were surveyed Android.

According to the report, in the US, the UK and India, more than 30 percent of the time spent on smartphones is spent on communication applications.

"We found that 40-50 percent of consumption data communication applications used for mobile broadband, while the corresponding figure for the video is only 20 percent," said Ericsson ConsumerLab Advisory Swetleena Swain.
