Google says that AMP is a collaborative effort with publishers and key technology companies believed that poor speed is one of the biggest problems of the web. Since AMP works on all devices, platforms and browsers, with publishers can instantly publish and monetize more effectively. In addition, users also have control over the look and feel of their content as they do on their desktop and mobile today.
David Besbris, VP of Engineering, said search, "Access to information is at the heart of the mission of Google. Unfortunately, today, the mobile web is not up to the expectations that people have for the information they need, especially when it comes to speed. AMP will allow publishers to deliver content to readers when they are moving faster, consistent and, along with a consistent experience. starting today, Google will make it AMP easy to find pages in relevant search results phones, giving users an experience of speed reading for the best stories. "
Websites built with AMP charge an average of four times faster and use 10 times less data than equivalent non AMP pages, Google says. The company adds that AMP makes it easier for users to browse through as well. "This is a priority project for Google and for me," said the CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai.
Google's move to accelerate mobile Internet gratification came as works Facebook to expand its "instant Articles", which was released last year. Facebook said in December it had signed up 350 members of the global media for its service tailored for Apple and Android devices. Facebook said that articles are loaded for viewing 10 times faster than standard connections.
Apple has also moved to become a media center with Apple news application launched last year. The projects have attracted many news organizations eager to get more readers through news centers and advertising revenue.
Pichai said that "cares deeply about journalism itself, because of the fundamental role in democratic society, ensuring the dissemination of knowledge and the free flow of information."
