That long wait is over and the first set of lucky Nexus users will now be able to play a little with the developer preview will not include owners of Sony Xperia Z3. Yes, Google has started rolling developer preview not Nexus devices so developers no longer have to soon have a Nexus device to start testing and developing applications for future versions of Android.

This is indeed the first time for Google. And the owners of the Sony Xperia year old Z3 also be happy now to get early access to a user interface of Nexus-like release of manufacturer customizations.

Any owner of a Sony Xperia Z3 has to do is install the 'Xperia partner' Sony application on a Windows or Mac computer and click to download the Developer Preview.

It's a bit strange why Google chose the flagship of Sony from 2014 instead of the latest Xperia Z5, but a larger user base could be a reason for it.

Xperia Z3 owners now will be treated to a plethora of new features that come with the update of Android N including split screen, an area of cleaner notifications and more. For now it is only the Xperia Z3 that is reported to be receiving the update, but Google is expected to launch the same phones from other manufacturers as well.
